What we do,
and what we don’t.
ScopeOur boundaries
BrandDefence Co. is a digital protection service, not a law firm. Knowing the line helps you get the right help faster.
We do
- Monitor for misuse of content, brands and identities you own or are authorised to protect
- Capture, organise and keep evidence
- Prepare complaints from facts you confirm, for your approval
- File complaints through platforms’ own reporting processes, as your authorised agent where the platform allows
- Track cases and report what happened
We don’t
- Give legal advice, or tell you whether something infringes your rights in law
- Decide disputes about who owns a work or a brand
- Write letters of demand, or negotiate settlements or licence fees
- Register trade marks or act in any court, tribunal or formal dispute process
- Assess defamation, or remove honest reviews, criticism or lawful journalism
- Find out who is behind an account, or contact them
01Referrals
When we
refer you.
We pause a case and mark it “Referred for specialist review” when:
- the other side says they own the work or have permission to use it
- a platform asks for a legal position we can’t give
- you want to claim compensation, licence fees or damages
- the situation involves threats, stalking or other harm
We give you the full evidence record so you don’t start from scratch. To find a solicitor in New South Wales, the Law Society of NSW runs a solicitor referral service. For trade mark registration, speak with a registered trade marks attorney.
If you are at risk. If someone is threatening you or you are in immediate danger, call 000. Scams can be reported to Scamwatch, cybercrime to ReportCyber, and image-based abuse to the eSafety Commissioner.
